Hempel Marine coatings

Fouling control and hull protection systems for vessels and yachts — supplied and supported in Qatar.

Nothing on the Hull but Water

Fouling — the growth that builds up on a submerged hull — is not just a cosmetic problem. It creates drag, it drives corrosion, and it costs money. A fouled hull burns more fuel, loses speed, and pushes up both operating cost and emissions.

Modern fouling control coatings stop that growth at the source. Koyenco Trading supplies genuine Hempel marine coatings and helps you choose the right system for your vessel, your operating pattern and your docking interval.

What Fouling Costs You

Why Fouling Control Matters

Higher fuel consumption

A rough, fouled hull increases drag, so the engine works harder for the same speed.

Lost speed and efficiency

Fouling accumulation directly reduces cruising performance across the service interval.

Corrosion risk

Growth on the hull holds moisture and organisms against the surface, accelerating deterioration.

Higher emissions

More fuel burned means more CO₂ and NOₓ — an increasing concern for owners and operators.

Fouling Defence or Fouling Release?

Hempel offers two different technologies for keeping a hull clean. They work in different ways and suit different operating patterns. Choosing between them is the first decision.

How it works
Combines a silicone hydrogel surface with controlled biocide release in a single coat (Hempel’s Actiguard technology). The hydrogel microlayer forms on immersion and acts as a physical barrier, reinforced by the biocide.
Biocide-free silicone with a hydrogel microlayer. Organisms perceive the surface as liquid rather than solid, so they struggle to attach. The silicone beneath keeps the hull smooth.
